January 7, 2011

January 7th. Just another day, right? Epiphany is over, our Christmas trees are out on the curb, decorations are put away and we're beginning to get into the swing of things in the new year. Finally, we can all relax a bit and have a nice, normal week ahead of us.
Not so quick....  There is one thing you may have overlooked.

Today is the beginning of Girl Scout Cookie Sales!

Yes, we are selling girl scout cookies again this year from our house. My Junior Girl Scout has grand delusions that she will sell more than last year. Lord have mercy.

The cookie selling isn't so awful. Most people have a warm, fuzzy feeling about Girl Scout cookies. Everyone has their favorite, whether it's the Thin Mints, Samoas, Trefoils, Tagalongs, Do-Si-Dos, or Lemon Chalet Cremes. Really, if you like cookies, it's hard to turn them down. It's the delivery process and the collection of money that makes me want to crawl in a hole and hide from the Girl Scout Council.

This year the Girl Scouts of the USA is allowing for internet sales. Yep. Facebook here we come. Actually, the program is called "Cookie Club" and it allows Joanna to spam you, er... I mean, to send you emails. If you receive an email from her, you can then place an order through our troop for cookies. Our troop is using our cookie sale proceeds to go on a camping trip this summer. If you would like to buy cookies from Joanna, just let me know. She can take your order and we will send you the cookies as soon as we receive them. And, if you just have the hankering to order more cookies, you can go to www.littlebrownie.com and place your order with a girl scout troop where you live. It's fast, easy, online.

Remember, when your doorbell rings this afternoon, it's probably going to be a cute, little girlscout taking cookie orders. Go ahead, buy a box.
